Wisdom Teeth Removal Coorparoo

One of the most common causes for wisdom tooth removal is not having enough space in the mouth for eruption. This is often referred to as impacted wisdom teeth. Your wisdom teeth may be blocked by gum, bone, another tooth or all three may be preventing the tooth from erupting.

If you are not currently in pain or discomfort from your impacted wisdom teeth, there is a risk that the impacted wisdom teeth might cause issues in the future. It is best to take proactive approach and remove the wisdom teeth before they become a problem.

Other reasons for extraction include:

1. Decay
2. Infection
3. Cysts
4. Pain from pressure on adjacent teeth
5. Being unable to clean the teeth properly

Our dentists will assess your wisdom teeth and provide you with the best advice near Coorparoo, QLD.

Prior To Removal

We will assess your wisdom teeth with a visual exam and an OPG X-ray at our clinic near Coorparoo. An OPG X-ray is a panoramic picture of your mouth that will let us see where the wisdom teeth are sitting. If your wisdom teeth are not sitting close to or around a nerve, we will be able to schedule the surgery right away.

In cases where the wisdom teeth are too close to a nerve, it will require further investigation before proceeding with the extraction.

Prior to the extraction, we will also discuss which sedation options are right for you. We offer local anaesthetic, IV sedation and nitrous oxide at the clinic. We can also perform the extraction under general anaesthetic at a local hospital.

On The Day and Healing

If you have chosen local anaesthetic, IV sedation or nitrous oxide, we will see you at the clinic near Coorparoo on the day of your surgery. Our staff will ensure that you are comfortable, pain-free and stress-free during the entire experience.

Healing averages around 3-4 days, however we suggest you rest for the first 24 hours.

Our staff will likely prescribe medication to help with healing. Relief can also be achieved with Ibuprofen (Nurofen) or Paracetamol (Panadol).

We recommend that you arrange for someone to take you home safely following the procedure.
